Norah Announces More Tour Dates; Coming To Dallas

Norah Jones may love New York the best when it comes to live performances, but she’s getting ready for what lies ahead. The singer just announced more U.S dates in support of her latest release, Little Broken Hearts, extending her tour into the fall.

Twelve more dates have so far been added past her summer outing, picking up again on October 7 in Minneapolis, MN. Norah’s current tour in the U.S will have her out on the road from June 20 – August 23.

Little Broken Hearts came in at number two for its debut on Billboard Top 200 chart. According to Soundscan figures, she sold over 110,000 copies within her first week of release.

And her label, Blue Note, has something up their sleeves for the audiophiles among Norah’s fans. All five of her albums (Come Away With Me, Feels Like Home, Not Too Late, The Fall and Little Broken Hearts) have been Mastered for iTunes, plus limited editions of the albums are also being released on 200 gram vinyl and SACD editions. While you can buy each one individually, the entire catalog is also being offered in a LP or SACD buddle with an accompanying bonus album of unreleased covers.

Norah Jones Woos Live On Letterman Crowd With Her Soulful Sound

The notoriously chilly air at the Ed Sullivan Theater was heavy with anticipation for Norah Jones’ Live on Letterman concert Wednesday night. Just a day after the release of her acclaimed album Little Broken Hearts, her fans in New York and thousands more at home couldn’t wait to hear the new material live. Norah did not disappoint, as she smoothly carried the crowd through a breathtaking blend of new material and classics.

Norah and her band cooly cruised on stage, as the chanteuse positioned herself coyly behind the keyboard and kicked it off with “Say Goodbye,” before donning her six-string and grooving into the title track off the new record. Norah and the bands’ sly and soulful sound had the audience hooked as they declared their undying love online and with applause. Midway through the set the crowd online was shouting out for “Happy Pills.”

Norah closed the hour long set with a couple of classics including “Sunrise” and “Come Away With Me” before delighting the crowd with an encore of “Stuck.”

The long wait is finally over, and Norah Jones will take the stage tonight at the Ed Sullivan Theater to perform a full Live on Letterman concert, that you can stream right here.

Norah will play a mix of her hits and some new tracks off her brand new album Little Broken Hearts. Norah worked with Danger Mouseon the album — the two’s second project together after Norah appeared on Rome, a project the producer did with Italian composer Daniele Luppi. “I didn’t know Norah,” Danger Mouse explained. “So I just went to her apartment, played her some music, said pretty please, and she just said yes.”

Norah explains the album as, “little stories in a big picture. The songs are all little pieces and scenes.” Get a preview of it below in her album trailer or stream the full album on her website.

Rolling Stones Drummer Charlie Watts Announces New York Jazz Club Residency

Though there is little chance of seeing the Rolling Stones perform in 2012, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to see any of the English rockers individually in the greater New York City area.

Ronnie Wood will perform in Atlantic City later this month and the guitarist he replaced, Mick Taylor, is performing six consecutive nights at the Iridium in NYC. The Midtown jazz club appears to be the hot spot to perform in the Big Apple. Now, Drummer Charlie Watts has announced he will be the latest Stone to plan a residency at the Iridium, performing four shows at the jazz venue this summer, from June 29 to July 2.

Rolling Stone reports that Watts will also perform with the Les Paul Trio during the last night of his residency on July 2. The tribute to the late guitar innovator is part of Les Paul Mondays, a weekly event held by the Iridium that donates a portion of the door to The Les Paul Foundation.

Tickets to the shows will go on sale starting today through the Iridium’s Facebook page, with a special promo code available for a limited number of VIP tickets.
