“It was quite emotional and exciting that people who might not be able to afford to come to our shows could come to this. It was like Beatlemania all over again,” said McCartney according to Hello Magazine.

“When you visit places that you don’t often come to, like South America, they’ve been saving up the excitement so when you get there they let it all go,” he went on to say.

McCartney performed two nights before the free event for 70,000 people at Azteca Stadium.

Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina will make a special appearance to accept the show’s Millennium Award in her late mother’s honor, while John Legend and Jordin Sparks will perform a tribute. Sparks recently worked with Whitney, playing her daughter in the upcoming remake of Sparkle, due out August 17. The singer’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, who recently signed the family up for a reality series, will also be on hand.

Houston has ruled the charts throughout her career and is the only artist to ever have seven consecutive number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. She also holds the record for the highest selling soundtrack in history with 1992′s The Bodyguard, which sold over 42 million copies worldwide. Her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” spent 14-weeks at number one in 1993 to become the biggest single in pop music history.

But Houston isn’t the only one being honored this weekend. With 32 number one singles throughout his nearly 50 year career, Stevie Wonder has earned himself the Icon Award. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry, who will premiere her new song “Wide Awake,” are also scheduled to perform at this year’s show.

According to NewsWise, researchers gave two groups of rats water laden with high-fructose corn syrup, but also added omega-3 fatty acids(which protect against damage to brain cells) to one group’s diet.

The group without the omega-3 were slower when it came to running a maze that both groups had been taught to run before the experiment began.

“The second group of rats navigated the maze much faster than the rats that did not receive omega-3 fatty acids,” Gomez-Pinilla, the author of the study, said. “The…animals were slower, and their brains showed a decline in synaptic activity. Their brain cells had trouble signaling each other, disrupting the rats’ ability to think clearly and recall the route they’d learned six weeks earlier.”

You might want to remember that the next time your kid asks for a soda to drink.

“We had to do some last minute work on the album. [We] worked on some new songs and had to extend the release date a little bit but I think the fans will not be disappointed,” Lambert told Mix 96.5/Houston.

One of the new tracks, “Never Close Our Eyes” was co-written by Bruno Mars. “It was the first time we worked together and he’s fantastic. He’s so talented and really down to earth and cool and humble. He’s a really nice guy,” Adam said.

And who wins the hair competition? “[Bruno's] hair is higher. I saw him at the AMA’s and I looked at him and said ‘your hair is higher than mine! Bastard!’”

Adam has been busy promoting his new album and will perform tomorrow night on American Idol.

Obviously not anywhere her ex Russell Brand is, so that knocks London (where he lives), India (where they got hitched), Thailand (where they vacationed) and L.A. (where he’s hosting the MTV Movie Awards) off of the list. And she’s already been to beaches in Mexico and Hawaii — so we wanted to suggest some off the beaten path holiday spots for the pop star.

1. Machu Picchu, Peru

The seat of ancient Inca civilization is hard to get to — it is high up in the Peruvian Andes. You can hike up to it, going from jungle to sierra peaks. Once you’re at the top, in the city of Machu Picchu, the views are something to never forget. The inspiration and ingenuity that went into building this famous walled city would surely provide Katy with some interesting new, “E.T.”-esque song ideas.

2. Geysir and Blue Lagoon hot springs, Iceland
Actually, a trip to any of Iceland’s hot springs would be relaxing and rejuvenating. Geysir is a spectacle — it’s the oldest hot spring in Iceland and is believed to have started spouting in the 13th century. It tosses up rocks and water to a height of 60 meters.

Blue Lagoon, on the other hand, is a tourist destination geothermal spa outside of Reykjavik. The lagoon waters are mineral-rich and warm because they are part of a lava formation. It offers a slew of spa treatments for high end skin pampering. As someone who suffered from acne, Katy might find the Silica mud treatment especially helpful.

3. Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, TN
Oh come on now. Katy Perry is more than camp enough to love Dollywood. If she’s worried about overexposure or just wants to get away from civilization, there’s no better place to hide out than a cabin in the Smokey Mountains.

4. Napa Valley, California

After working as long and hard as Katy has, maybe the woman just wants a nice bottle of wine. It’s easily accomplished with a trip up to wine country. Plus she can play it first class all the way, with several of the best new hotels in the U.S. popping up in the area over the last few years.

5. Manchester, England

Why? Because it is the home of the Smiths. Katy has long been a fan of the cult band, and even met Morrissey through her ex. She told Q magazine that her favorite Smiths song is “Cemetry Gates,” so she could go explore the site of the gruesome Moor Murders that inspired the track. She could also stop by the Salford Lads Club, the location of the cover shoot for their legendary album The Queen Is Dead (incidentally, it’s the album her previously mentioned favorite song is on). And of course there is the Smiths first practice space, the BBC broadcast building where they performed, the former location of the famous Hacienda club where the Smiths along with Joy Division, New Order, and the Happy Mondays played, and tons more. The whole town is absolutely seeped in Smiths memorabilia. As an added bonus, the Manchester City players just became the English Premiere League soccer champions. So if Katy has any interest in becoming a WAG, that’s the hot team to look to.

6. North Pole Expedition Cruise

Talk about seeing something you’ve never seen. This cruise goes through the polar ice cap in the Arctic Ocean. Passengers get to walk on the North Pole. Since the polar ice cap has been shrinking for the last 30 years, we should all be lucky enough to see it while we can. On Teenage Dream Katy was inspired by “California Gurls.” Perhaps on her next album she can be inspired by snow owls and arctic foxes. If she goes in the summer, she could experience the midnight sun — which is visible 24 hours a day in that part of the world.

7. Roswell, New Mexico

We are talking about the lady who sang “E.T.” — why not vacation in the American home of an alleged alien invasion? Plus the 2012 Roswell UFO Festival kicks off at the end of June. They’ll have speakers, authors, bands, and lots of extraterrestrial memorabilia. Sounds at least as fun as Coachella.

8. Route 66

There is a lot of weird stuff to see and do if you drive from one end of the famous Route 66 to the other. We’d suggest Katy get a mobile home full of her favorite friends and road food together, then plan to drive from Santa Monica to Chicago. There’s the Arizona meteor crater; the home of the original hot dog, the Crazy Dog Drive-in, in Springfield, IL; the Wigwam Motel in San Bernadino, CA, where you can sleep in your own teepee; and Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. As a bonus, she’d be literally going off the map: Route 66 is not on any current U.S. road maps.

9. The $1 Million Dollar Travel Package, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

It’s an insanely extravagant package, but if you’ve got the money to vacation this way why not. In addition to staying at the five-star Emirates Palace hotel for 7 days, the million dollar vacation includes: a driver and your own Maybach at your disposal; a private jet to Iran to create your own Persian carpet; a private jet day-trip to Behrain for a “pearl deep sea experience;” and daily spa treatments.

10. Juliet’s House, Verona, Italy

If you’ve got love problems, the best place to go is Juliet’s House in Verona. You can leave a note for Juliet, to have it answered by the volunteer secretaries of Verona. If that isn’t cathartic enough, Katy can eat some of the world’s greatest pizza, gnocchi, polenta, fresh fish, pandoro, grappa and Baci di Giulietta (Juliet’s Kisses).
