Chicago native Steve Cole‘s smokey sax has been a mainstay in Smooth Jazz now for over 10 years and his new song, “Undun”, is the latest addition to The Oasis’ library.

Steve Cole gives a lush and sultry treatment to The Guess Who‘s classic track “Undun” and it’s just one of many orchestral reworkings to be found on his latest CD Moonlight.

Moonlight is Cole’s 8th full-length release and it marks a slight change in direction.  Typically, Steve Cole goes for the more funky side of Smooth Jazz with a healthy dash of romantic slow ballads thrown in for good measure.

This time out, Cole goes for a classic orchestral sound that harks back to the classic lush arrangements of Nelson Riddle, Billy May and John Buzon Trio back in the late 1950′s and early 60′s.

In addition to covering The Guess Who, Cole also give the full string and sax treatment to Burt Bachrach‘s “The Look Of Love”, The Beatles‘ “The Long And Winding Road” and the classic torch ballad “Cry Me A River”.

Steve Cole’s website has more info.  The new CD, Moonlight, will be available next Tuesday, Feb. 1st.

Here’s Steve giving the sax treatment to Sarah McLachlan‘s “Angel”.
